What to expect from working with a nutritionist?

What do I need to prepare for my first visit?

*Upon booking your consultation, I will ask you to fill out some forms found in the forms section of this site.  The questionnaire will help to give me some indication of your overall health status and current diet.  If you have labs (less than 3 mos. old) please bring for review, common useful labs are cholesterol (lipid panel), glucose, A1c, vitamin D, anemia panel, and B12.   

Initial consultation:

*My nutritional approach is about looking at the body as a whole and getting to the root cause of your symptoms and disease.  The best way to help you get to the root of your condition, is to truly understand your health history, lifestyle and personal experiences with your current health.  No one knows your body and experiences better than you and that's why it is so important to take the time to fully understand your perspective, so we can begin the healing process.   I will use the questionnaire as a base for further investigation into your current health and concerns.  We will go over your medical history, current and past symptoms, nutrient deficiencies, medications, emotional well-being, current diet and lifestyle.  Optional anthropometric data is assessed which includes weight, height, BMI, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist to hip ratio and blood pressure.

*Initial consultations will take approximately 60 to 120 minutes.  Package program includes a 2 hour initial consultation.

*We will discuss how to replace unhealthy habits with healthy habits and how to prepare to ensure you are set up for success.

*A personalized diet, and lifestyle plan (including any recommended supplements) will be fully researched, formulated and emailed to you within 48 hours.

*Follow up consultations will take place after the initial consultation, lasting 60 minutes.  This is a great opportunity to note any improvements, solve any problems you may have encountered and discuss how we can best take you to the next level on your journey towards better health.

What if I need to cancel?

*Cancellations made less that 24 hours before the scheduled meeting are subject to a cancellation fee of $25.00.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

*Accepted payment forms are credit, debit, check, cash or Cash App.  Payment is due at time of service.

Are visits covered?

*Working with insurance is nearly a full-time job in itself, which takes time away from working with my patients.  I would rather focus my time, attention, and energy on you!  If you have insurance, I will gladly provide you with an invoice you can submit for reimbursement with your carrier.  You'll just need to check with your insurance company to find out if nutrition services are covered.

Do I need to be Vegan or Vegetarian to work with you?

*Although my approach is focused on whole plant foods, which is best for sustainable weight loss and overall health, the choice of how much you want to incorporate and change is up to you and I fully respect your choices and will support you in your journey at a pace that is comfortable for you.  With that said it is also my responsibility to be real with my clients and help them move past their comfort zones, so that they are able to succeed in areas that they would have not been able to on their own.

*Whole food plant based diets are backed by an enormous amount of science based evidence in the treatment and prevention of various chronic diseases.  Depending on your current situation, symptoms and lifestyle, together we will come up with a goal and plan that works specifically for you.

*The focus is "Plant Based" not "Plant Exclusive", however the more plants you eat and the less processed foods and animal products you consume the quicker you will see the health benefits and weight loss.  Ultimately our sessions are all about you and your expectations. Generally, the bigger the changes the bigger the results.
